Massimago is deeply rooted in this Valpolicella region since 1883. The winery is located only a few kilometres far from Bolca, the most famous site in Europe for marine fossils.
The vineyards
The property covers 28 hectares with gradients from 150 to 300mt above the sea level and presenting and East-West position.

Terroir: Layers of limestone, marl and clay. The green harvest takes part at the end of July and the hand harvest is at the end of September.

The estate, situated at an average altitude of 100 to 350 meters above the sea level, stands on multiple layers of soil which intersect and blend together as an ideal mosaic.

The stratigraphy of the soil consists of:
- red clay rich in organic substances and colloids
- white and floury limestone which contributes to freshness and minerality
- floury and porous marl which, mixed with fragments of limestone and quartz, allows a good drainage of the soil.
